Rifle Hunts
| Our hunting permit is on USFS Wilderness. This means that
there is no motorized equipment allowed. We use horses to get into camp and to pack the equipment. You will be
lodged in wall tents with cots and foam pads for sleeping. There will be a separate cooking tent and tent for the
guides. With a guided hunt all you need to bring is a sleeping |
 |
| bag, license and personals. We do have a suggested
gear list that has been proven to work well for our area. |
 |
Our guided rifle hunts are a total of seven days, with five of those spent hunting. We guarantee a 3:1 hunter:guide
ratio but strive for a 2:1. On rifle hunts we typically ride out of camp on horseback just before daylight. We
usually sit & watch during the morning, then stalk during the day and sit in the evening. This is "plan
A". Most, if not all of our |
| guides have hunted up here for a number of years and plans change as needed. Our
guides will do everything possible to insure your success. We use a number of techniques ranging from calling,
spot and stalk and drives. Shots range from up close to 300 yards or better. |
Rifle elk license for the first season is by draw only. Contact Elk Basin Outfitters to recieve a hunting application.
